DanceWize

Harm Reduction Victoria’s DanceWize program is a specialised alcohol and other drug, holistic welfare, and crowd care outreach program partially-funded by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services. DanceWize Peer Educators host a welfare chill space near the Medical tent and provide non-judgmental harm reduction education as an early prevention measure, disseminate health supplies (electrolytes, ear plugs, sunscreen, and sexual health) as well as providing care, support, and advocacy for people experiencing distress, particularly due to intoxication.

DanceWize Peer Educators are accredited in HLTAID003 Provide First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, among other alcohol and other drug-related training. Through its chill space and the development of resources, DanceWize promotes positive behavioural change to reduce all kinds of alcohol and other drug-related harm. In 2016 the DanceWize program was awarded the Victorian Minister of Health’s Outstanding Achievement: Supporting Diversity.
